Urinalysis & Microbiology (MA125) 40 Hours

This course explains how to assist Reproductive and Urinary Specialties in the preparation of clinical laboratory and microbiology urinalysis and understand the purpose of these routine tests

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to do the following:

* Assist with Reproductive and Urinary Specialties & Preparedness the Clinical Laboratory & Microbiology & Urinalysis

* List nine types of urine specimens that can be collected

* Understand the purpose of routine urinalysis.

* Describe the steps for collecting a clean-catch urine specimen from other students.

* Students will be able to identify and describe both the physical and chemical aspects of urine.

* Students will also be able to properly perform a pregnancy test.

* Students will demonstrate how to properly perform a urinalysis

Grading:

Student performance will be evaluated relative to knowledge, skills, and professional behavior.  Exams, quizzes, and projects will provide evidence of success in meeting the course objectives.
